Flight From Death By Yasmine Galenorn

I’ve read Yasmine Galenorn’s Otherworld series and rather enjoyed it, so when I found this novel I knew that I had to read it. It did help that the cover was so alluring that I couldn’t put it down. The main character in this novel is Shimmer, a blue dragon that has been exiled to Earthside for five years. Shimmer committed a crime in her homeland bad enough that for someone like her it could mean death. Instead she was given to a vampire so that she may serve him instead. Shimmer has a beautiful personality that makes her quite likable. She has a strong will and a strong heart, yet she can be ruled by her past from time to time. She can be confused at times and because of this confusion she’s still wounded from her punishments. It’s making her wary of anything that happens around her. In this novel Shimmer is going on her first real case, which just happens to be a haunting of a B & B. The owner of the establishment is also a vampire and used to be good friends with the one that Shimmer now serves. Upon reaching the house Shimmer and her fellow workers experience quite a few strange anomalies that they can’t quite explain. The most bizarre one would be when they finally go up into the attic. What they find there helps to explain part of the house’s problem, but not all of it. If anything it helps confuse them even more, so that they have to reach out to others for extra help. This all makes for a very interesting plot when it’s all said and done. I was quite impressed with it all and even went to reread parts of it over again. Not because I didn’t understand it, but because it was worth reading more than once. I have to wonder if I’ll see these characters again or if Yasmine Galenorn will take this in a complete different direction than I hope for. I would most certainly recommend this to all fantasy readers out there, because this is a very good read and is definitely worth reading. It’s full of action and adventure, and all with a hint of romance in the air. It’s certainly a tale worth being told and I foresee it being told many times over again. No matter who you are or what you like to read the most, you at least have to give this novel a try, because I can guarantee you that you’ll fall in love with these characters. You won’t be able to keep your hands off of it once you pick it up.
