Highlander Unchained By Monica McCarty

Oh, how I do love a good kidnapping novel. It just adds so much excitement to it that I can hardly contain myself. There’s just something about it that sets my blood to boiling. Which is a good thing for me, because it very rarely ever happens. So when I do read one I’m usually entranced by it. The plots are almost always intricately woven, so that you have to read it. It’s just digs its claws into you and doesn’t let you go.

Flora is on the run. After receiving letters from her two brothers she’s determined to marry someone of her choosing. Because that’s why her brother’s want to see her. They each want to discuss the topic of marriage to her. However, Flora will not be forced into a marriage that she doesn’t want. So instead she runs away with the man that she thinks is perfect for her. One that turns out not to be when they’re suddenly attacked by a bunch of bandits. However, it turns out that they’re not bandits, but a bunch of Highlanders. And what they want is Flora. Lachlan is a desperate man and he’ll do anything to save his clan. His clan has had one disaster after another and they’re starting to suffer from it. Many believe that it’s from the curse that was placed on them a long time ago. So to help his clan Lachlan came up with this plan to kidnap Flora and ransom her. Her brother Hector stole his castle and Lachlan is determined to get it back. Even if it means using Flora for his own gain. Flora has had enough with all the bossy men in her life. She’s tired of being told what to do all the time. So to make things harder on her kidnappers she’s planned a few tricks for them. However, what she didn’t plan on was spending more time with Lachlan, because now she’s starting to develop feelings for him.

I do like the fact that this whole series is a historical romance series. This just livings up the plot even more. The plot to this story is based upon events that have actually happened in the past. The author has just added her own flair to the mix. Telling us her version of what may have happened. This novel does keep to the close facts as much as possible. So it’s an interesting take on how the events may have actually happened. This plot is that of a kidnapping story. Which made it an interesting read. It’s one that we read about quite a bit, but it never lessens the appeal to it. That’s why I my recommendation is such a good one. This is an excellent novel and a very good read. I highly recommend to anyone who loves a good romance novel to read this one. It’s one that would be thoroughly enjoyed by many that’s for sure.
