I actually enjoyed this novel more than I thought I would. It didn’t seem all that interesting in the last novel, but I did only read that short little bit. It’s hard to tell anything about a novel when it’s first based on just a few pages. Which is what I ended up doing. I tried to base it off those few pages and I really shouldn’t have. Because this novel is so much more than a mere handful of pages. It brought to light quite a few things and made this series even more interesting. It’s definitely one of my favorite out of this series so far.
In this novel Rydstrom finally gets to lose his resolve. While he was on his way to meet with his brother Cadeon, Rydstrom is captured. He ended up totaling his car in an effort not to hit the female in the middle of the road. While trying to do the right thing and make sure that she’s okay she tricks him. Because the woman isn’t just any woman. She’s Sabine the Queen of Illusions and Omort’s sister as well. Making his imprisonment by her that much worse to him. Sabine is the one being who Rydstrom doesn’t want his female to be. However, Rydstrom just isn’t that lucky. Sabine has been forced to seduce Rydstrom, as ordered by her brother. It’s been fated that Rydstrom’s first son will unleash the powers of the Well and Omort wants all of it to himself. He wants it even more than he wants Sabine, who he desires greatly. By doing this deed Sabine will be giving Omort an opening that she never wanted to give him. So she now I must rely on Rydstrom to give his vow. A vow that will make her his Queen and protect the son that they may have together. However, Rydstrom has different plans of his own. He does gives Sabine his vow, but it’s not the one that she wants. It’s a vow of vengeance that he plans to take once he’s free of her. One that may indeed come true before Sabine is ready for it.
This novel is just like the rest of the novels in this series. It would be classified as an adult urban fantasy novel. Meaning that it has that and so much more within it. It’s full of magic, enchantments, fighting, romance, and good old-fashioned witches and demons. Making it a novel that has many different aspects to it. Some that are passionate, while others are deceiving. This novel has a plot twist that I did see coming, but that I enjoyed regardless. It’s a quite fascinating one and can keep you entertained for hours. So for my final recommendation on this novel, I’d recommend that you give it a try. It will entrance all of the urban fantasy lovers out there. Well also igniting a spark for those who love a good romance novel.
