Bitter Bite By Jennifer Estep

I quite honestly can’t believe that I’m still reading this series after all this time. It’s been well over ten years now since I first picked up the first novel in the series. And now I can quite honestly say that I’m not going to stop reading these novels anytime soon. Hell, this is novel number fourteen in the series, so that has to be a positive in Jennifer Estep’s favor. Especially since I love this novel as well. Just like I have with all of the other novels in this series.

Gin can never catch a break. Every time she gets rid of one problem another one pops up to take its place. Except this time it’s worse, much worse. Because this time it could be Finn’s own mother who’s here to kill her. A mother who has supposedly been dead for around twenty years now. An when Finn was young he was told by Fletcher that his mother had been killed in a car accident. However, that wasn’t the truth. Fletcher left a hidden file on Finn’s mother for Gin to find. And once it’s been found Gin takes up a whole new hobby, grave-digging. Gin goes to dig up the grave of Finn’s mother, and what she finds in the casket isn’t a body. It’s a warning. Fletcher left a box full of things for Finn when he’s ready to understand the truth. For Gin he left a letter. A letter that describes what Deirdre can actually do. Deirdre doesn’t care about anyone but herself. Not even her own son. She’s a cold hearted, ruthless evil bitch that takes pleasure in the pain of others. An the only people who know all of this are Gin and Bria. An while deciding on whether or not to tell Finn that mommy dearest is indeed alive, Deirdre is found. In fact, she’s the new client that Finn couldn’t stop talking about. So when a robbery happens right as she meets Deirdre, Gin is automatically suspicious of her. However, she did take a bullet for Finn. Leaving Gin wondering about what exactly her game is? And if she will end up hurting Finn before Gin can stop her?

The series would be classified as an adult urban fantasy novel through and through. An for an urban fantasy novel it’s got an awful lot of different aspects to it. Making this a novel full of giants, dwarves, vampires, witches, and much more. Because that is what Jennifer Estep is best known for. She’s an author that knows how to draw in a crowd, and keep them right where she wants them. Which is hooked to her Elemental Assassin series. A series that only gets better and better as it’s added to it. Which in turn gives me the perfect amount of material to give a decent review on her current novel. Because this novel is one that any Jennifer Estep fan has been waiting to read. It’s a novel that shows off another main character to his fullest, while also grabbing your attention and never letting go. Making this a must-read novel for any Elemental Assassin book lover out there.
